Gibson Alexander is proud to hear that our Managing Partner, Graham I Smith, has been honoured with the appointment as Vice Chair of the strategic advisory group on Entertainment, Sport and Media at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

In response to this recognition, Graham explained: "I am inspired by the opportunity to help ICAEW members and subscribers deepen their understanding of these essential industries, while also supporting the industries in recognising and benefiting from the qualities and capabilities of the Chartered Accountants.”

Johan Rewilak, the Chief Economist at Gibson Alexander, expressed his enthusiasm about the achievement of his colleague:
“I am confident that Graham will make valuable contributions as Vice Chair of the strategic advisory group on Entertainment, Sport and Media at the ICAEW. I've known Graham for a significant period of time, from launching his first social enterprise to working alongside him at Gibson Alexander. His professionalism, subject matter expertise and collegiality will be great assets to the ICAEW.
Additionally, his reputation and networks will strengthen the group. As an example, Graham brought Dame Caroline Dinenage MP (Chair of the Culture Committee in the House of Commons) to speak with members of the ICAEW on the Future of Football Finance. That was just a week before Dame Caroline led the televised interview of David Hogan (the Government's preferred candidate for Chair of the Independent Football Regulator)."
Gibson Alexander’s Head of Corporate Finance, Stephen Thom, supplemented this with his own professional insights into the value which Graham brings to teams:
"With his expertise as a strategic guide who advises Governments on their investments in sporting assets and previously served as a Chief Financial & Legal Officer for entrepreneurs in and around sport, Graham brings great expertise to all discussions on the business of sport.
That is not to forget his current experience of restructuring governance in UK Sport and specifically the Football Association, in whose governance structure he serves as Vice Chair of a board and its Chair of Audit & Risk for 25,000 footballers around the South East of England."
